BOOKER PRIZE 2008 – INDIAN LAUREATE, ARAVIND ADIGA

 
The Booker Prize (now known as the Man Booker Prize) for 2008 was awarded today to Aravind Adiga (born 1974, Chennai, India; resident in Mumbai) for his debut novel THE WHITE TIGER.
 
Adiga thus joins fellow Indians Salman Rushdie, Arundhati Roy
and Kiran Desai as a Booker winner. Also shortlisted from India
was ‘Sea of Poppies’ by Amitav Ghosh.
