En estos tiempos no ha dejado de crecer la fama profesional y la popularidad entre el público mundial del gran catalán Antoní Gaudí, quizás el mayor arquitecto de la época moderna, y ahora que se acerca el centenario de su óbito en 2026, el Gaudí Research Institute, en colaboración con la Universidad de Barcelona, anuncia la celebración de una serie de nada menos de 7 congresos internacionales dedicados a su obra, entre 2014 y 2026.
El primer congreso se celebrará entre el 6 y el 10 de octubre de 2014, siendo su tema principal (aunque no exclusivo) la iglesia de la Colonia Güell. Después, cada uno de los congresos bienales tendrá su orientación específica, desde ‘el Parque Güell y el Palacio Güell’ a ‘la Sagrada Familia’ (tema culminante del congreso del 2026); para más detalles, véase:
Se nota desde ya una fuerte presencia internacional en los futuros eventos, destacándose en particular la colaboración en el proyecto de especialistas asiáticos, de China, Japón y Corea del Sur. La verdad es que – como se puede desprender de la foto colocada abajo (del Parque Güell) – el entusiasmo global por la obra del maestro Gaudí está en aumento constante, y que este fenómeno de internacionalización y popularización bien podrá traerse a colación como uno de los ejes orientadores de lo que promete ser una serie de eventos de máximo interés para muchos temas emergentes, tanto arquitecturales como culturales, de este nuestro globalizado siglo XXI.

Recent times have witnessed the constant expansion of both the professional fame and the popularity among the global public of the great Catalan Antoní Gaudí, arguably the most important architect of the modern era. Now, with his death centenary impending in 2026, the Gaudi Research Institute, in collaboration with the University of Barcelona, has announced the holding of a series of no less than 7 international conferences on his work, between 2014 and 2026.

One may already note a strong international presence in the future events, with particular emphasis on the collaboration in the project of Asian specialists, from China, Japan and South Korea. The fact is that – as can be seen from the photo above (of the Parque Güell), the global enthusiasm for the master Gaudí’s work is constantly on the rise, and this phenomenon of internationalisation and popularisation is likely to come to the fore as one of the guiding lines of what promises to be a series of events of maximum interest for any number of the emerging themes, architectural and cultural, of our globalised twenty-first century.
